Monday Match: Exhausted Edition

It has been a while...
This painting by Ramon Casas reminds me of this room via Living Etc and both images are straight up taunting me right now. So much work and yet so exhausted!

Monday Match: George and Martha Style

Every week I post an image of an interior that reminds me of a work of art either in its palette, composition or mood. This week I'm giving a shout-out to blog follower and James Marshall fan, Camille, who requested a George and Martha match.

The beach was bright!

We had a blast!
Now it's time to rinse off the sand and get back to work!

Monday Match: Pattern Love Edition

{Every week I post an image of an interior that reminds me of a work of art either in its palette, composition or mood. I hope that you enjoy!}
* I've been fascinated with illustrations by Ezra Keats lately. Doesn't the Norris girls' room above (as featured on Made by Girl) reminded you of this opening image from The Snowy Day?

* I find it equal parts compelling and odd that enormous bouquets of autumn flowers take center stage in both of the above images.

*Those of you who have been popping over to this blog for a while now may remember that on January 24, 2011 I posted my very first Monday Match and have been posting a new match every week since then without fail.
Another Domino room. Sigh.

 So you can imagine my surprise when I stumbled across a Martha Stewart post from April 25, 2011 on paintings and their room counterparts! You can check out their design team's impressive matches here.

Joanna Goddard's room designed with help from Jenny Komenda
Henri Matisse, Deux fillettes, fond jaune et rouge

When I stumbled on Joanna's cheerful bedroom makeover I was instantly reminded of this Matisse painting. The palette, the quality of line, the cheerful yet adult mood -- oh my!

Monday (err...I mean, Thursday) Match

{Every week I post an image of an interior that reminds me of a work of art either in palette, composition or mood. I hope you enjoy!}
*OK, I admit it.  Today's match is a bit of a cheat. Not only was I too full of Christmas dinner to post on Monday, but also both the interior and the sculpture are the creative product of Alexander Calder. I came across a beautiful book on the artist's home, and couldn't believe how much it reminded me of his work! Do you think the art influenced the home or vise versa?

* The Thanksgiving holiday is over and my neighbors are hanging up their Christmas lights. Every year I make grand plans for decluttering before I start flinging my tinsel. Then I see spaces like the Hovey home, or paintings like the one above and decide that there is something comforting about living amid piles of interesting things.

Who oh who is this artist? I bought a book of his/her work, but it is written entirely in Chinese! Help!

 *F.Y.I. -- This  painting is actually much brighter than it appears here, and it whites are far crisper.
