*This is definitely a "mood" match. There is a sparse aggression to both the room and portrait that the sweet little details (a dotted pillow, a bowed collar) cannot tamp down.
The question of mood that came to my mind is to all artists who eventually can't fight painting their self-portrait any longer. What mood were you in when you gave into the muse who whispered in your ear, "paint yourself!"
Great question! I've painted myself a bunch of times over the years and the mood in each painting is different, but I think that they are all meditative and (obviously) reflective.
