{Every week I post an image of an interior that reminds me of a work of art either in palette, composition or mood. I hope you enjoy!}
*OK, I admit it. Today's match is a bit of a cheat. Not only was I too full of Christmas dinner to post on Monday, but also both the interior and the sculpture are the creative product of Alexander Calder. I came across a beautiful book on the artist's home, and couldn't believe how much it reminded me of his work! Do you think the art influenced the home or vise versa?
This actually really surprises me! It shouldn't, but I see Calder's designs as spare, so I wouldn't imagine his house to be thing-filled. But clearly, it is his with the color and way things are arranged -- plus that big print of his at the top of the page.
ReplyDeleteI could see the confusion, Camille. His work is very clean and his home is very cluttered. I think some people require a bit of disorganization around them to create art, and in fact see the orderly connections between line, color,form through it all. I can just picture Calder sitting at his kitchen table squinting over at his bright pots and imagining them suspended in space.
